Shortcut virus is a virus program which makes your all data in the shortcut. It will not erase your data, but it hides and corrupt your data. On the internet has shortcut remover program or tools which available in the software. If you format your pen drive and it does not mean the virus is gone because when you again plug in your pen drive, it will come back. the hidden files and folders can be viewed by changing attribute to a files and folders in pen drive by using the following commands in cmd.
attrib -s -h -r /s /d G:*.* G: - Drive Letter you need to change as per your drive letter. -s - remove system file status from files & folders -r - remove read only status from files & folders -h - remove hidden status from files & folders
after completed open the pen drive and delete shortcut files. Generally the data’s will stored in a folder name dot (.) rename it to any valid name and use it.
The shortcut virus is not detected by most of the antivirus programs, If it so you can try Smadav Antivirus it will remove shortcut virus.
